On August 10th, Beijing food and drug administration held a briefing on issues of network ordering platform for food safety problems of takeaway platform including Meituan. The government staff claimed that they would register and investigate Meituan, Baidu Takeaway and Eleme for without publicity of licenses of online stores based on law. On August 6th, Hongkong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department inspected asthma drugs in 319 pig samples from mainland, and 40 of them were slaughtered and distributed to 27 retail outlets. The department indicated that use of asthma drugs in food was illegal, and the symptom of heartbeat and nervous tension occurred after consumption of the problematic pork, which occurred in 10 min to 3 h after consumption and disappeared in 24 h.

On August 8th, 2016, NHFPC issued an announcement about 3 new varieties of food additives, expanding usable range of 8 varieties of food additives, and expanding usable range of the food nutritional fortification substance se-enriched yeast. Thereinto, 3 new varieties of food additives were ascorbyl palmitate (enzymatic), 3-{1-[(3, 5-dimethyl-1, 2-oxazol-4-yl) methyl]-1H-pyrazol-4-yl}-1-(3-hydroxybenzyl) imidazolidine-2, 4-dione and 4-amino-5-(3-(isopropylamino)-2,2-dimethyl-3-oxopropoxy) -2- methylquinoline-3-carboxylic acid sulfate; 8 varieties of food additives were paprika oleoresin, paprika red, isomaltulose (palatinose), potassium sorbate, sodium metabisulphite, shellac, polydimethyl siloxane and octyl and decyl glycerate.

On August 8th, 2016, NHFPC issued Announcement No. 10 (2016) about approving 3 new varieties of additives for food contact materials and products including sulfamic acid, the new resin variety methylmethacrylate-ethylacrylatetrimethylolpropane trimethacrylate copolymer and expanding usable range of 1-Propanaminium, N,N,N-trimethyl-3- [(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-, chloride, homopolymer.

On July 26th, “mildew rice” was found out in a Harbin kindergarten. Soon afterwards, law enforcement officials investigated and collected evidence of the incident. On August 9th, the local government notified that 4 related responsible persons were punished, thereinto, 2 of them were removed from the post and other 2 were laid off. Enrolling students and running kindergarten were stopped, and school license of the kindergarten was revoked.
