Cotton Candy: finger-licking good grapes. It is not just a claim, but a promise Agricoper, the sole licensee for this variety, has fully kept.

"This is the first year the variety has been available in Italy with enough volumes to guarantee continuous supplies. In this past year, we have carried out various tests with a leading distributor in Northern Italy. The feedback was excellent. The aroma is great and the flavour is reminiscent of cotton candy. These amazing characteristics are what enabled us to access big retailers in central and northern Italy," explains the financial and administration manager Giuseppe Liturri (in the photo).

"Results were already positive in Europe, not to mention the US, where consumers know the variety very well and are almost addicted to it."

"The only 'problem' is that quantities will always be limited, as it is quite difficult to obtain. It will probably be sold as a premium product over the next five years and will be sided with cheaper varieties, thus remaining a niche product."

Despite its success, it is not to everyone's taste. "Many enjoy its sweet aroma, but there are those who prefer something more acidic." Young people and children are the perfect target - "we believe this product is particularly appealing, especially since the packaging is inspired by theme parks and cotton candy."

Conical bunches develop oval grapes that are crunchy but with a sweet flavour. The caramel and cotton candy notes are unmistakable and provide a unique tasting experience. We at FreshPlaza had a chance to taste this variety on 25th August and were surprised by its sweetness. Considering the brief period in which it is available (4-5 weeks in August), make sure to grab some as soon as you see it!
