Eel fry fishing season has kicked off in Taiwan, and local authorities required safety and order in fishing work. What’s more, fishermen would timely report fishing methods, fishing location, fishing quantity and so on in the request of local government.
Eel fish farming was the traditional industry in Taiwan, which, however, still depended on natural eel fish fry. To take fishermen’ living into consideration and protect living environment of eel fish, Taiwan government issued eel fry fishing season rules on 9th September, 2014, which stimulated that, except Hualian county and Taidong county, other regions were prohibited from fishing by any methods within 3 sea miles in intertidal zone, sea area and river mouth.
In past years, the eel fry fishing season would last 7 months from October to Next April. Harvest season started to open between November and February since 2013, 3 months less than before. Anyway, all the methods was to provide enough times for eel fish to reproduce.
