Choice Farms LLC is recalling a “very limited quantity” of stuffed mushrooms because the cheese used to make the product was recalled for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The seven trays were sold at different stores in Texas and Kansas. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with these recalled products.
These products are meant to be cooked before eating. The recalled products include Traditional Gourmet Portabella Mushrooms (2 count tray, 8 ounce) with lot number 12041000 and UPC number 7-17524-72470. That product has a “best if enjoyed by” date of 2/16/2017. Also recalled is Pizza style Portabella Mushrooms (2 count tray, 8 ounce) with lot number 12041000 and UPC number 7-17524-72471. The product has a “best if enjoyed by” date of 2/16/2017. Finally, Stuffed Mushrooms in a 6 count, 7 ounce tray is recalled. The lot number is 12041000, the UPC number is 7-17524-72469, and the “best if enjoyed by” date is 2/16/2017.
These products were sold in Friday, February 10, 2017 at seven different stores. They are Kroger 445 at 5330 S. Cooper/ Green Oaks in Arlington, TX 76017; at Kroger 461 at 5190 Hwy. 78 in Sachse, TX 75048; at Kroger 529 at 4241 Capitol Avenue in Dallas, TX 75204; and at Kroger 566 at 3205 University Drive in Nacadoches, TX 75965. They were also sold at Kroger 575 at 2935 Ridge Road in Rockwall, TX 75032; Kroger 695 at 5701 W. Pleasant Ridge in Arlington, TX 76016; and at Dillon 072 at 10515 W. Central Ave. in Wichita, KS 67212.
If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Throw them away in a sealed garbage container or take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund. Then clean your refrigerator with a solution of 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of warm water, since Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow and persist at refrigerator temperatures.
If you ate these recalled products, monitor yourself for the symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes food poisoning for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pains, stiff neck, high fever, and severe headache. Others, especially pregnant women, may only have a mild illness similar to the flu. If you do feel sick, see your doctor and tell her you ate the recalled product.
