TP Food Processing of California is recalling two types of Satay for possible Clostridium botulinum contamination. The sauces were distributed at supermarkets in California. A tiny amount of the toxin produced by this bacterium can cause serious illness and death. The acidified sauces were not properly produced, making them susceptible to contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recalled products are TPF Lemongrass Satay in 9 ounce packages. The description is Lemongrass satay, 9 ounce hexagon glass jar with red lid. The lot code is 2016. The second recalled product is TPF Shrimp Satay in 6 ounce and 9 ounce containers. The lot code for that product is 2016.
If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.
