Club Chef LLC is recalling some retail snack kits because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. This recall is a precaution, because environmental testing found Listeria bacteria in the factory where the kits were assembled. No illnesses have been reported to date.
You can see the long list of recalled products, along with package size, UPC numbers, use by dates, and lot codes at the FDA web site. They include Fresh Selections by Kroger Veggie Tray with Apples, Fruit Tray with Carrots, and Snack Tray with Almonds & Apples, in addition to Club Chef Snack Tray with Baby Carrots, among others.
If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Discard them in a sealed or double bagged package, or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Then clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria.
If you ate any of these products, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next two months. Those symptoms include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only be mildly ill with what seems like the flu, but this illness can cause miscarriage and stillbirth. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
