Listeria monocytogenes bacteria is found throughout the environment, but listeriosis is an uncommon but potentially fatal illness. The symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, and nausea. Miscarriages and stillbirths can happen when pregnant women contract this illness. Infants, the elderly, and people with HIV infections or who are undergoing chemotherapy are also very vulnerable to this bacteria. If you ate this product, you should watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. It can take that long for symptoms to appear.
If you bought these products, do not eat them, even if you are going to cook them. It’s just too easy to cross-contaminate surfaces or other foods with this product before it is heated. And if you heat these foods in the microwave oven, there could be cold spots where bacteria survive. Throw these products away in a sealed package or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund. Wash your hands after handling these bags.
Then clean out your freezer or refrigerator with a solution of 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach dissolved in 1 gallon of warm water to kill any bacteria. Then rinse the shelves and dry them.
