There are two recalls today for products that contain undeclared allergens. First, 4,412 cases of Herb-Ox Beef Flavor Granulated Bouillon are being recalled for undeclared milk, one of the major food allergens. Anyone who is lactose intolerant or is allergic to milk could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. No reports have been received to date of any consumer complaints.
The recalled product is Herb-Ox Beef Flavor Granulated Bouillon, with best if used by dates of September 2020 and October 2020. The product is sold in 4 ounce jars. It was sent to retailers and distributors nationwide. The firm discovered the issue during a labeling review.
If you bought that product and cannot consume milk, discard it or take it back to the place of purchase for a refund.
The other recalled product is Plow & Hearth Chocolate Covered Cashews made by Virginia Diner. That product was sold at Plow & Hearth locations and nationwide through mail order. The product may contain peanuts and peanut allergens. Anyone who is allergic to peanuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they eat this product. No reports of illness or injury have been received to date.
The recalled product is Plow & Hearth Chocolate Covered Cashews in 10 ounce cans. The UPC number is 085582089193 and the lot code is 100917 XLSP. The best by date is 10 04 18. No other Virginia Diner or Plow & Hearth product is affected by this recall.
These cashews, used in Cashew Towers (item #89291) were distributed from Plow & Hearth catalogs, the company’s website, and Plow & Hearth stores between October 25, 2017 and November 17, 2017. Customers purchased Cashew Towers from the Plow & Hearth Catalog, or purchased the Cashew Tower from a Plow & Hearth Store. Within the Cashew Tower is a can of Plow & Hearth Chocolate Covered Cashews. This product may contain salted peanuts instead of cashews. If the can does not contain that specific best by and lot number information but instead has a CCC printed at the end of the second line of the lot information, then it is not subject to this recall and is fine for sale in the store.
If you bought this product and are allergic to peanuts, don’t eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the place of purchase for a refund.
