Nueske’s Meat Products of Wittenberg, Wisconsin is recalling about 12,946 pounds of pork products for misbranding. The products may contain brown rice flour and glycerin, two ingredients that were not declared on the label. No adverse reactions have been reported to date in connection with this issue.

These fully cooked braised pork products were packaged on dates ranging from February 24, 2017 to May 23, 2018. They include 1-pound 6-ounce (22 ounce) vacuum-sealed packages containing “NUESKE’S BRAISED PORK MEDALLIONS in a mushroom pork demi-glace” with lot codes 700053, 600342, 700055, 700145, 700243, 700250, 700261, 800039, 800066, and 800114; and 2.5-pound (40 ounce) vacuum-sealed packages containing “NUESKE’S BRAISED PORK SHANK In Pork Demi-Glace” with lot codes 700035, 700047, 700098, 700166, 700228, 700238,700242, 700256, 700262, 700144, 800032, 800046, 800087, and 800108. They have the establishment num bar “EST. 20341” stamped inside the USDA mark of inspection.

These products were shipped nationwide to consumers through internet and mail order sales. The problem was discovered on June 29, 2018 when the company told the USDA that their supplier changed and reformulated the product without notifying the firm.

If you purchased these products and can’t eat brown rice flour or glycerin, don’t eat them. Throw them away in a sealed package, or contact the company for a refund.

FSIS is conducting effectiveness checks to make sure that all customers are notified about this recall. The government also wants to make sure that steps are taken so this product is no longer available to consumers.
