In the last ten years, highly productive walnut varieties have been planted in Ukraine, making it possible to harvest good volumes of the crop. Thanks to this, the domestic walnut production has grown by more than 25% since 2010, allowing Ukraine to gain a foothold in the world's top ten ranking. The walnut harvest volume is only greater in the US, Mexico, France, Germany and Peru, according to analysts of the company Pro-Consulting.

In the medium term, an even larger increase in the gross walnut harvest is expected, as the acreage is expanding rapidly after years of stagnation. Last year, the acreage devoted to walnut production in the country grew by 18%, which entailed a return to the figures of the year 2000.
