Chilean freeze-dried superfoods producer SouthAm has launched its line of freeze-dried fruit powders in the market.
The range will feature maqui berry and acai berry, and is claimed to provide consumers all the benefits of fruits and vegetables, while significantly decreasing spoilage.
SouthAm Freeze Dry founder and chairman Boris Hirmas said: “Acai and maqui are the new superfood sensations and we are proud to offer the best quality freeze-dried powder on the market today.
“The maqui berry is a millenary gift from our ancestral civilisations, we harvest it purely from the native forest in Patagonia, and turn it into a unique purple freeze-dried powder. Without this process, the maqui berry would still be an incredibly hard crop to bring to consumers.”
The freeze-drying process removes the moisture as vapour in a vacuum, which enables fruit or vegetables to preserve structure, colour, flavour and nutritional value.
Once the product passes through the freeze-dried process, it is finely milled, creating a rich, nutrient-dense powder in order to use it for baking preparations, acai and maqui bowls, smoothies, nutrition bars and much more.
SouthAm claims that all its freeze-dried products are natural, with no additives, as well as non-GMO and can be traced from farm to consumer.
Established in 2004 in Chile, SouthAm has been sourcing and manufacturing the freeze-dried superfoods, which can be found in supermarkets and stores in the domestic as well as in the international markets.
