Core Tip: Customers should really check their cupboards.
Customers should really check their cupboards. At this time, five frozen products are being pulled from shelves over concerns that they might contain a potentially fatal bacteria, following a listeria outbreak earlier this year that was believed to have caused the death of eleven people.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has said the listed frozen veg may contain listeria monocytogenes, which cause listeriosis.

Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s are recalling five products on a precautionary basis due to “the possible presence of listeria”. The Trading Standards website says: “ We are asking all customers who have bought this product not to consume it, and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store where they will issue a full refund”.

Here are some of the products being recalled:
Sainsbury’s carrots, broccoli & sweetcorn microwavable steam bags 4 x 135g. SKU: 7148693. Best before date: All date codes.

In addition to this, Sainsbury’s are also recalling several of its filled breakfast biscuits due to a labelling mistake. Their Coconut and Yoghurt Filled Breakfast Biscuits and Cocoa Filled Breakfast Biscuits could both contain sesame, though the allergen is not declared on the label.
