Canada’s Sofina Foods is recalling its Pub Style Chicken Burgers Uncooked Breaded Chicken Burgers as they may have been contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.
 
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) noted that the burgers have been recalled after people fell ill due to consumption of this product.
 
Carrying a best before date of 14 May 2019, the products that are subject to recall bear UPC of 0 69299 12491 0, as well as the outer box lot code of 2019 MA 14 EST 374 and inner bag lot code of 1348M.
 
People can become sick due to Salmonella infection, but infants, children and seniors, as well as those with weakened immune systems are at a higher risk of serious illness.
 
Currently, 25 cases of illness have been registered across nine provinces, British Columbia (1), Alberta (3), Saskatchewan (3), Manitoba (1), Ontario (12), Quebec (2), New Brunswick (1), Prince Edward Island (1), and Newfoundland and Labrador (1).

Two people have been hospitalised, and the Frozen raw breaded chicken products have been identified as a source of this outbreak.

The recall has been classified as Class 1.

Globalnews.ca reported that over the past year several raw breaded chicken products have been recalled such as President’s Choice Pub Recipe Chicken Nuggets and Harvest Creek Chicken Nuggets.
