In an innocuous suitcase, filled with tins of exotic fruit, there was more  than met the eye. Hidden within the 26 cans -some of which were labelled Jamaica Sun- was 7 kg of cannabis, smuggled into Manchester Airport from the Caribbean. Luckily, Border Force officers halted the drugs mule before he could make it over the border.

This case, and may other drugs smuggling cases, are now in the hands of the National Crime Agency. Patricia Hannan, assistant director of Border Force North: “These are all important examples of the crucial work that Border Force officers do every day to help keep the UK safe. Detections such as these are testament to their dedication and expertise.”
