60 boxes of sweet potatoes, weighing 300 kg, were detained by Hong Kong customs officers. The shipment was imported from the Chiba prefecture in Japan. The Food Safety Center isolated the shipment and stopped it from entering the market. Employees took samples to test the radiation levels of the sweet potatoes. Test results showed that there was no radiation. A spokesperson stated that the shipment lacked a radiation certificate from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. This violation of the "Food Safety Protocol" was reason to begin an investigation.
