According to the information from ROSSELKHOZNADZOR official website, Russian Animal and Plant Quarantine Supervision Bureau, on February 10, 2019, the officials found that 21.6 tons of nuts from China were not qualified during routine inspection. The products were isolated and banned from export to New Siberia.

It is reported that the products are transported from the Republic of Kazakhstan to the New Siberian region by road transport plan and are planned to be sold in Krasnoyarsk. However, 18 tons of peeled almonds and 3.6 tons of walnuts with shells were found to lack copies of phytosanitary certificates issued by the country of origin when they were inspected at KARASUK Animal and Plant Quarantine Station, which could not confirm the safety of the products.

The relevant inspection and Quarantine Law of the Russian Federation prohibits the import of high-risk plant products into the country.

This batch of products have been returned, and illegal operators will also be punished.
