Kettle Produce’s plant at Balmalcolm -Fife, Kettle Parish- will partially close for the next two weeks to prevent the spread of the virus after seven workers tested positive for COVID-19. Workers within specific areas of the plant have been told not to attend work from today, and to self-isolate.
NHS Fife said all confirmed cases have mild symptoms and are currently isolating at home.
Dr Esther Curnock, deputy director of public health with NHS Fife, told fifetoday.co.uk: “Following detailed discussion and risk assessment with Kettle Produce, it has been agreed that it is prudent to undertake a voluntary partial closure of the site for 14 days, with identified staff asked to self isolate. We recognise this may cause some concern, however, it is important action is taken at an early stage to prevent further spread.”
