Ground handlers and operators of cold chain facilities at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) are receiving training to ensure fruit and vegetable exports are of the best quality.
This is to avoid a repeat of EU sanctions that were imposed on Ghana for the detection of harmful chemicals in some past fresh produce export consignments. The ban cost an estimated $30 million in lost revenue at the time.
The aim of the training is to increase the skills of employees on the ground as well as to ensure exports remain of the highest quality from Ghana to the EU.
