Core Tip: August Foods, a company based in Pennsylvania, US, is recalling approximately 20,520 pounds of lamb koftis due to allergy risk, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The lamb koftis contain milk, a known allergen that is not declared on the product label. This recall has been classified as Class I, which indicates a high health risk.

The products subject to the recall are 11-oz cartons of Saffron Road Lamb Koftis entrées. The entrées have sell by dates of 15 June 2012, 19 July 2012, 20 July 2012, 5 October 2012, 1 May 2013, and 3 May 2013.

These products were shipped to distribution centers in Illinois and Pennsylvania.

August Foods initiated the recalled after a consumer experienced a minor reaction after tasting the product and reported it to the company.

FSIS and the company have received no other reports of adverse reactions associated with consumption of these products.
