According to reports provided by the states, Odisha tops the list. The state's pulse farmers were set a target of about 3.50 lakh hectares, and have already cultivated 3.87 lakh hectares. Apart from Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, it is the only other state to have achieved its target.
Although Bihar hasn't achieved its target of 5 lakh hectares yet, it ranks second to Odisha in terms of land under pulse cultivation (it has covered 3.60 lakh hectares). The northern states of Punjab and Haryana, seem to be lagging far behind their stipulated targets.
