The new 80,000-sq.-ft. plant includes a production area, storage and office space. OSI said the company expects to employ 100 people at the new facility. The new facility is producing branded and private label frozen entrée dishes such as Salisbury steak and chicken parmigiana, as well as a variety of frozen pasta products including lasagna.
“The new facility is a great opportunity for OSI to accommodate the growth of existing product lines and enable our expansion into new, attractive product categories," said Kevin Scott, executive vice president of OSI Group. "Additionally, having the new operation attached to Millard’s distribution center significantly reduces overall product handling and supports OSI’s sustainability plan objectives. Millard is helping us accomplish this by providing expertise in construction, logistics and warehousing.”
The Geneva site is part of Millard’s network, which covers most of North America and includes 36 facilities capable of handling all varieties of frozen and refrigerated products, according to the company. The majority of Millard’s facilities also have order pick services, computerized inventory management, exporting services, rail access, product-scanning systems and transportation services such as less than truckload (LTL) shipping.
