Zoom in font  Zoom out font Published: 2012-06-07  Origin: Quick Frozen Foods
Core Tip: Jain Irrigation Systems, Ltd., Mumbai, India, through its US subsidiary Cascade Specialities Inc., has entered into an agreement to acquire White Oak Frozen Foods, Newman, California, industrial food ingredients supplier.
Once it has acquired the White Oak business, Cascade will be relocating it from Newman to Merced, California; a site with larger handling, processing and warehousing capacity in order to meet increasing customer demands. The two key founders and managers of White Oak, Harold Archibald and Dan Wilkinson will
continue to manage the business post acquisition.

The reduced moisture RM/IQF process incorporates a continuous drying and freezing technology that results in high quality reduced moisture frozen vegetables that provide superior product flavor and texture. Customers, upon thawing or heating of the vegetables have a significantly higher quality food in terms of appearance and flavour, than traditional freezing/thawing methods. In addition, the RM allows for lower transportation costs, spoilage and storage costs to customers.

With this specialized technology, White Oak, founded in 2002,  has an existing market for their RM/IQF vegetable ingredients  with companies producing frozen and refrigerated entrees,  pizzas, dips and in a wide variety of retail and food service  products. "Jain is the perfect partner for our business. In addition to their strong product supply support, they bring excellent agricultural and food processing expertise plus R&D and engineering support to help improve the success of the
business," said Archibald and Wilkinson.
