The award is part of the company’s “Committed to your health” program, which was created in 2003 in response to the company’s interest in improving the health of consumers throughout the different countries it operates in. The program is based on five initiatives that are aligned with the World Health Organization´s Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity, and Health.
The call for participants will remain open until Aug. 17.
The award recognizes the best research papers published during 2011 or 2012. Research must have been conducted in the fields of nutrition, food science and/or technology in two categories: thesis category (masters or doctoral students) and professional category (professionals or researchers in these fields).
Grupo Bimbo said it will present eight awards in the field of nutrition and eight in the field of food technology with prize funds amounting to $56,000. Submissions will be evaluated by a jury panel of scientific experts and researchers in all fields of human nutrition and food technology.
