Core Tip: New Zealand has launched a new website to improve the food recall process and ensure food safety in the country.
The new website, ProductRecallnz, will enable the registered companies to rapidly inform trading partners and customers when a product has to be withdrawn.

NZ Food & Grocery Council (FGC) chief executive Katherine Rich said the website will offer consumers greater protection in case a food product is found to be unsafe.

The more companies that join the new system, the more efficient and effective it will be, Rich added.

All the food companies have been encouraged to register with the website.

The new tool has been developed by standards organization GS1 NZ, in partnership with FGC, Foodstuffs, and Progressive Enterprises. It has been trialled by FGC members such as Nestle, Cadbury and DB Breweries.
