Core Tip: Australian food manufacturer Simplot Australia is recalling frozen ‘I&J Crispy Battered Flathead in Beer Batter’ from supermarkets nationally due to the presence of an undeclared allergen – milk.
According to the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), the vegetable shortening that was used in the manufacture of this product contains milk, which was not listed on the label.

The product comes in 300g cardboard box and contains 6 fillets. It is being recalled nationally at Woolworths supermarkets, IGA and other independent supermarkets. In addition, it is also being recalled from Spar in Queensland and Franklins in New South Wales.

All best before dates currently in the marketplace are being recalled.

FSANZ has urged consumers with milk allergy or intolerance to not consume this product as this may lead to a reaction. Customers can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
