Simplot Australia is launching a new Lean Cuisine whole grains range into Australian supermarkets.

Lean Cuisine frozen meals have been sold in Australian supermarkets for over 25 years with Simplot marketing them as a ‘low fat’ and ‘low calorie’ convenient food product.

The new range markets additional nutritional qualities with new ingredients such as brown rice, quinoa and wholemeal couscous.
New whole grain meal choices include:

– Moroccan Chicken with Couscous and Lentils

– Mexican Chicken with Brown Rice and Quinoa and Chicken

– Chickpea Curry with Brown Rice and Quinoa

Simplot Australia says that each meal will still contain two serves of vegetables. Lean Cuisine Steam Whole Grains are also advertised as being 97 per cent fat free and they have a four star health rating.

The new dinner and lunch option also come packaged in a split cooking tray which is siad to retain flavour and consistency when cooking.

Lean Cuisine is owned by Simplot Australia, the local division of the American food manufacturer, J.R. Simplot. Simplot Australia is the owner of Birds Eyes, Edgell, John West and other food brands.

Lean Cuisine Steam Whole Grains range will be available from June 15 at Woolworths and Coles. The recommended retail price is $6.69 for a 350 gram serving.
