McLane to acquire Meadowbrook Meat

Core Tip: McLane, a Texas-based supply chain services provider and a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, has entered into an agreement to acquire Meadowbrook Meat Company (MBM) for an undisclosed amount.
McLane chief executive officer Grady Rosier said the acquisition is a part of the company's strategy to expand in food and beverage segments.

MBM chief executive officer Jerry Wordsworth said that the deal will enable the company to serve its global clients and expand the business further.

The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions.

MBM, a North Carolina-based pork processor , distributes its products to the foodservice and restaurant chains across the US. It operates 35 distribution facilities and employs 3,300 people.

McLane offers services to convenience stores, mass merchants, drug stores and chain restaurants.The company owns about 40 modern distribution centers.
