Core Tip: Tyson Foods, Inc.’s K-12 business unit has introduced Proportion Chicken, school menu items that meet the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service’s 2 oz meat/meat alternate requirements.
The products are available in two varieties: southern breaded and oven roasted.

“We have created an exciting, nutritious line of restaurant foods that sacrifices none of the flavors kids love most,” said Michael Turley, vice-president and general manager of the government business unit. “No provider is pushing the boundaries of delicious, healthy food for kids like Tyson K-12.”

The southern breaded variety features a fully cooked cut that is packed in a separate bag. One chicken thigh contains 27 grams of protein and the breading contains no milk allergens.

The oven roasted product is packed in individual bags, and one chicken breast has 14 grams of protein while one thigh contains 26 grams of protein.
