Tyson Foods, an establishment based in Missouri, is recalling around 75,320 pounds of frozen, fully cooked chicken nugget products due to possible presence of plastic pieces, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said.
The products subject to recall include 5lb bags of 'Tyson Fully Cooked White Meat Chicken Nuggets - 16142-928' featuring a 'Best if Used By' date of 'Jan 26 2015' or 'Feb 16 2015,' and 20lb bulk packs of 'Spare Time Fully Cooked Nugget-Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters w/Rib Meat - 16142-861.'
These products were produced on 26 January 2014 or 16 February 2014, and bear the establishment number 'P-13556,' manufacturer codes '0264SDL0315 through 19' and '0474SDL0311 through 14.'
Tyson Foods identified the problem after it received consumer complaints that small pieces of plastic were found in the products.
The problem occurred due to a product scraper inside a blending machine.
Minor oral injuries have been reported to date, associated with consumption of the recalled products.
