Core Tip: China’s food administration has issued a warning over the consumption of wild mushrooms, after several food poisoning cases involving wild mushrooms were reported since July.
The State Food and Drug Administration noted that restaurants should avoid purchasing and serving wild mushrooms and people should avoid consuming wild mushrooms, because effective measures to detect mushrooms are not in place.

Since July, it has been reported that more than 50 people in the Hanzhong city of Northwest China's Shaanxi province have been poisoned by toxic mushrooms and seven have died.

The top food administration has also asked local supervision authorities in regions where plucking of wild mushrooms is prevalent to increase efforts to warn the public.
