The new factory, which is Nestlé's first in the country, will be a finishing center for packing products such as Nido milk powder. It will create 50 new positions by the end of its first year of production, with local people being recruited for the majority of positions.
Nestlé chief executive officer Paul Bulcke said Angola is one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa and is one of the fastest-growing in the world, with a rising middle class.
"By opening our first factory here, we will be closer to our consumers and can better adapt our products to their needs and preferences," Bulcke added.
In addition, Nestlé has also announced its plans to build additional production lines at the Angola factory to produce beverage products such as Nescafé.
Nestlé sells brands such as Cerelac, Nido, Nesquik, Nescafé, Maggi and Ricoffy in Angola.
Earlier this week, the company has also opened two new production facilities in Babelegi, Pretoria, South Africa, with an investment of ZAR400m ($48.98m).
