Bosch launches state-of-the-art food, pharma packaging facility in Goa

Core Tip: Bosch Packaging Technology India inaugurated a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Verna, Goa. The facility, which covers an area of about 33,000 sq m, has been set up at an outlay of Rs 34 crore.
It has a current capacity of about 200 machines a year, and within the next three years, it plans to increase the same to about 300 machines.

The plant was inaugurated by Manohar Parrikar, chief minister, Goa, and Mahadev Naik, minister of industries, Goa, in the presence of V K Viswanathan, managing director, Bosch Ltd, and president, Bosch Group India, and Friedbert Klefenz, president, Bosch Packaging Technology, Germany.

The new plant will fulfil capacity expansion and is expected to meet the increasing demand of the fast-growing packaging market in India and overseas; aim at increased localisation of new packaging machinery and production and make world-class German technology affordable and available to the Indian market.

The products in the facility will cater to the pharmaceutical, confectionery and food processing industries. At present, Bosch Packaging Technology India's operations design, manufacture and market form, fill and seal (FFS) machines for flexible pouch packaging, flow rap machines for pillow-packed candy applications and liquid pharmaceutical products.

Parrikar said he was happy with the progress of the facility and wished the company continued to grow in the coming years. Viswanathan said, "Bosch sees India and the Middle-East/Africa region as a high-potential market for packaging technology, particularly in the pharma and food segments." 

"This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Goa will meet the growing needs of the region through appropriate products and packaging solutions. This new facility will also generate good growth and employment opportunities for the people of Goa," Viswanathan added.

Klefenz observed, "This new facility will bring our new global offerings to India. It will also contribute greatly in pursuing our future plans and consolidation our leadership position in the Indian and international markets. This is not just a Bosch India milestone but a global one too."
