Changama Raju, chairman, Chancery Hotel, Bangalore, said, "We identified the right partner in TEP India to set up exclusive rooms for Japanese tourists/visitors to the city. We are happy to announce that a portion of the hotel will incorporate the Japanese guest room standards by adhering to their culture requirements. This partnership will go a long way in offering unique and first-of-its kind services in the country. We consider it an honour to tie up with TEP India, which has a significant brand lineage and heritage."
The JV marks the first-ever overseas foray of Toyota Enterprises beyond Japan, where it operates a chain of hotels. As part of the JV, TEP India will take over 52 rooms out of the existing 120 rooms at the Chancery Hotel (Lavelle Road) for a period of 7 years for management, marketing and maintenance through a minimum guarantee agreement. The JV will come into force from January 2013 once the guest rooms are ready incorporating the original culture.
Kazuyuki Kawai, president, Toyota Enterprise Inc., said, "We are excited with this latest development in India where a number of Japanese companies have started their operations. Bangalore has a large presence of Japanese companies and there is an increasing demand for accommodation facilities, where Japanese can stay safely, securely and comfortably. The Chancery Hotel will be responsible for the implementation of optimal hotel operation based on TEP India's planning and marketing to create an ideal hospitality environment.
TEP India will monitor the service, quality control, and undertake marketing of the 52 rooms, restaurants, spa and large communal bath. As part of the JV, Hyagreeva will invest on styling the guest rooms according to Japanese standards; Japanese-speaking concierge; Japanese sign boards; deploy Japanese staff on a permanent basis for guidance, mentoring and overall quality control.
The Japanese restaurant, managed by a Japanese chef, will offer a wide variety of Japanese cuisine. Private dining rooms will be set up for business meetings. The Japanese-styled spa and large communal bath will be open to local residents as well as hotel guests.
Each guest room will be customised to Japanese requirements such as multi electricity outlets to plug in Japanese electronic products without using a transformer; large desk; uninterrupted Internet connectivity; functional and clean interiors; bidet toilets; and expanded space preferred for longer duration of stay.
