To date, there have been 17 cases confirmed as part of the outbreak with 2 more suspected among residents, staff and visitors of the Blue Hill Care Center, a care facility for the elderly in Webster, NE that accommodates 62 residents.
Illnesses began in early August, according to the Center's Director, Michele Bever, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. investigators continue to look for the source of contamination.
Symptoms of salmonellosis, the disease caused by a Salmonella infection, most commonly include fever, diarrhea, but can also include bloody diarrhea, vomiting, headache and body aches.
