Core Tip: Former food and farming minister Jim Paice is to receive a knighthood.
Paice, Conservative MP for South East Cambridgeshire since 1987, was sacked during Prime Minister David Cameron’s cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday September 4.

Speaking after the reshuffle, 63-year old Paice said: “Obviously I am disappointed at losing my position as minister of agriculture and food, it was a job close to heart. I tried hard to help the industry adapt to change and the food industry to play its part in economic recovery.”

‘Tried hard’

“After 23 years continuous service on the Conservative front bench, both in government and in opposition, it will be a great change to move to backbenches. Nevertheless I am privileged to have been able to serve and I shall now devote my time to my constituency and my family.”

Paice was relaced by Liberal Democrat MP David Heath.

Three other politicians who lost their jobs this will also be knighted. They are former solicitor general Edward Garnier and former defence ministers Nick Harvey and Gerald Howarth.
