Supergreens with Kale and Ginger is an acai-based line extension to Sambazon’s organic juice line. Featuring a “new recipe” (we’re not sure if we ever sampled the old recipe), the product has a lot going on in terms of flavor. However, neither kale nor ginger are primary flavors, with acai, apple, mango, and banana instead acting as the main flavors that we tasted. The kale and ginger (along with the other greens that make up their “supergreens” blend) hit your tongue at the end, providing a slight vegetable note and a hint of spice. Maybe we’re in the minority of people who actually enjoy these flavors, but we’d love to see more of them and less apple and banana.
Still, what they’ve created is balanced and enjoyable, with the underlying acai flavor (and the grit that comes from it being unclarified) making this another solid flavor from Sambazon. Visually, it’s more of the same, with Sambazon’s trademark purple label and warrior logo being easy to identify from afar. Much like our comment about the flavor that’s inside the bottle, we’d like to see a bit more visual emphasis on the fact that this product has kale and ginger -- it’s a lot more descriptive than “supergreens.” Overall, this is definitely a very enjoyable addition to the Sambazon line.
