Bakery firms can cut costs with a new system that reuses hot gases emitted from ovens to heat and make water for an entire production facility, head of WP Green says.
WP Green, a new business arm of the WP Bakery Group, showcased its new heat recovery system at IBA 2012 in Munich.
BakeryandSnacks.com spoke to Malte Schürmann, head of the WP Green department, to find out more about how this latest system can benefit manufacturers.
“You can use it to save CO2 and you can save money with this system because you have less energy costs,” Schürmann said.
Hot gases emitted from baking ovens that are usually just lost are converted into water and heat for an entire production facility, he explained.
The water can be used for drinking, defrosting freezers and cleaning and heat for warming the entire production facility.
Operated through a centralised system, temperatures and heat distribution can be controlled remotely, he said.
