Japanese Government Donates 232 MT of Canned Fish

The Government of Japan has donated Rs. 180 million worth of Canned Fish through the United Nation World Food Programme to the Government of Sri Lanka.

Accordingly 232 Mt. of Canned Fish will be distributed to the schools in the Northern Province as a part of the on-going School Meal Programme under the Ministry of Economic Development (PRRO WFP project) with a view to addressing the nutrition needs of the school children in the Northern province. 156,600 students in the Northern Province will be benefited from this donation.

On behalf of the Government of Japan,Nobuhito Hobo, Ambassador to Sri Lanka handed over the above donation to Basil Rajapakase, Minister of Economic Development in the presence of the WFP and ministry officials.
