Although market information speaks of a decline in citrus, Juan Antonio Sos Garcia, director of Belcaire, believes it can be good for them and for the sector, as "we will focus more on quality operations rather than volume and help regulate the market, keeping it at acceptable levels. This year, in general better quality than last year is expected."
Belcaire is an export company located in Nules, Castellón, which markets the full range of citrus - tangerines, clementines, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, and stone fruit and vegetables such as tomatoes, aubergine, peppers, lettuce, celery and broccoli.
Today, the crisis is on everyone's lips, or almost everyone, due to the effect and the changes it is causing in Spain. "In the countries where we work, the effect of the crisis is not perceived significantly, only the large influx of supply from other exporters looking for new markets," says Sos.
Belcaire has its own brand, "PLATINUM", using only premium quality providers and exclusive lines.
Belcaire's main customer is the Russian market, followed by the Baltic Republics, Ukraine and in less measure, Poland. "We just established an overseas department, with the intention of expanding the business to countries like UAE, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, where contacts have already been made for the next campaign," concludes Juan Antonio Sos.
