The International Stevia Council (ISC) elected new officers during its general assembly meeting held Oct. 17 in Stockholm.
The new ISC officers include President Zanna McFerson, Cargill; Vice President Carl Horn, Real Stevia; and Treasurer Sebastian Winkelhaus, Verdure Science. The ISC Board also includes Larry Fernandes, Ingredion; and Jordi Ferre, PureCircle.
Commenting on the meeting of more than two dozen representatives of the global stevia industry, ISC Executive Director Maria Teresa Scardigli, said: “As the authoritative voice of the global stevia industry, the ISC set an ambitious agenda for the upcoming year. A primary focus involves increasing outreach on the benefits of stevia extracts in foods, as well as expanding the Proficiency Testing Program (PT), which supports companies in their compliance with food regulations by improving their analytical methods. The ISC welcomes a variety of participants in the program; including members of the food industry, regulatory authorities, academia and analytical laboratories."
She said plans for the upcoming year include an International Stevia Council Forum on all things stevia featuring leading experts in the industry.
