Kingston & Associates Marketing LLC is expanding its pineapple program.
The Idaho Falls, Idaho-based produce distributor and marketer has increased Costa Rican MD2 golden variety pineapple shipments by 30% compared to last season, according to a news release.
Kingston officials attribute growth of the “Sugar Pine”-branded pineapple to increased demand and expansion into new markets.
Though pineapples remain Kingston’s signature import item, the company has expanded into others, including mangoes, papaya, asparagus and sweet onions.
“Our strong presence both in the various growing regions and with the port terminals has been the gating item, allowing us to continue growing and open new distribution channels for sourcing other new products from Central and South America,” Mike Anderson, Kingston’s director of international procurement, said in the release.
Kingston also distributes potatoes, onions, lettuce, broccoli and other items and operates a Pompano Beach, Fla., cross dock and cold storage plant as well as nationwide refrigerated trucking outfit.
