The first shipment to China, consisting of twenty tons of table grapes, left last Thursday for Hong Kong, through a Dutch partner, in order to make way to the Asian market and reach regions like Macao, Malaysia and Middle East.
Ricardo Costa stressed that it is a very promising market and that it is up to Valle de Rosa to intensify its internationalization and increase significantly export volumes.
The official pointed out that company's exports had a significant growth between 2011 and 2012, from 25% to 35% of total production, 5,000 tons.
Currently, the main destinations of grape produced in Ferreira do Alentejo (Portugal) are Angola and European countries like UK, Holland and Belgium, of mainly the seedless varieties. "It represents our image in these demanding markets," said Ricardo Costa.
