Around NYC, the Battery recorded a record storm surge of 13.82' of water last evening breaking the previous record of just over 10' set back in 1960 from Hurricane Donna. This high water is affecting transportation in NYC and surrounding areas. The New York stock exchange will be closed for the second day in a row. The last time this occurred was during a blizzard in 1888.
Colder air is being pushed south around this storm, Miami recorded a record Low max temperature of 74 F yesterday. Here in the midwest, skies are cloudy over portions of the eastern cornbelt with strong winds and precipitation over Ohio and parts of Indiana. Farther west, look for partly cloudy weather with Highs in the 50s and 60s and lows in the 30s and 40s for the rest of this week.
Over the plains states temperatures are forecast to reach the 60s north and 80s south over the next several days. The extended forecast shows some scattered showers moving across the midwest this weekend. Next week should continue dry over a large area of the midwest with normal to above normal temperatures.
