The Indian government has eased the ban on the export of milk products such as milk powder and dairy whitener, due to surplus production.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has informed that the ban has been lifted on milk and cream, or other sweetening products such as whole milk powder, dairy whitener and infant milk foods, reported the Economic Times.
India imposed a ban on milk products such as whole milk powder, skimmed milk powder, dairy whitener, casein and casein products, and infant milk foods, in February 2011 to boost local supply. However, the ban on casein and skimmed milk powder was eased in April and June, respectively.
Currently, there is an estimated stock of 11,2000 tonnes of milk powder in the country.
