French producers from Saint-Chinian appellation in the Languedoc region are looking to enter the UK in 2013 to strengthen and expand their exports by tying up with wine critics, trade buyers and the press in the region.
The Saint-Chinian region is known for its two soil types - schist and clay limestone, which are ideal for growing vines for producing red, rose and white wines.
The region currently has 106 independent wineries with average annual production rate of 115,000hl, through which it currently exports 11% in the UK out of 31% exported globally, reported Harpers.
As part of the expansion strategy, 13 producers from the region are gearing up to participate and meet the trade in a special tasting event to be held at the Maison de la Region Languedoc-Roussillon in London on 21 February 2013.
The tasting event will also feature Saint-Chinian's Grands Crus chosen at the annual blind tasting held in the Languedoc in November 2012.
