Beneath the giant vinyl sign of three Budweiser bottles is an older, hand-painted mural featuring a beer bottle flanked by two beer cans, positioned on giant grain silos in downtown Manitowoc.

After residents rallied to safeguard the vintage, hand-painted pop ad for Anheuser-Busch, which owned the plant until 2011, an agreement was reached to save what has been a landmark for nearly 20 years.

Manitowoc Mayor Justin M. Nickels and representatives of Minneapolis-based Riverland Ag, which now owns the silos, came to the agreement to preserve the 30-foot wide, 90-foot tall artwork.
