Australian supermarket chain Coles faces fear of civil disobedience protest from truck drivers' association fighting for safer working conditions.
Transport Workers Union (TWU) began silent protest by assembling outside a Coles supermarket in the Sydney singing Christmas songs, reported Inside Retailing.
Commenting on the plans of protest, TWU New South Wales assistant secretary Michael Aird said that they would began a civil disobedience campaign against the retailer in 2013.
"They're at the top of the supply train and control the paying conditions that transport workers work under.
"Our rates are lower than they were in the 1960s... it's about basic safe systems across the supply chain so their goods can be delivered safely.
"We need to bring about change in the industry," concluded Aird.
The association claimed that nearly 300 people die in truck accidents besides nine death occurrence in the last fortnight itself.
