Argyll Smokery is recalling a single batch of smoked prawns due to a processing error that means Clostridium botulinum could grow.The Food Standards Agency in Scotland has issued a Product Recall Information Notice.
A sample has identified that the salt level within the product is below the level needed to make sure that Clostridium botulinum cannot grow in the product. Clostridium botulinum is the bacterium that causes botulism. As a precautionary measure, Argyll Smokery has recalled the affected batch.

If you have bought these prawns, please do not eat them, but return them to the store for a full refund. Point-of-sale notices are being produced for stores supplied with this batch. This product was only on sale in Scotland. No other Argyll Smokery products are known to be affected.
