On November 24, 2012, the CCIFC Anniversary Celebration as well as the appraisal and prize presentation of the Best French Company in China Award was successfully held in Beijing. Bureau Veritas was nominated for the Best Cooperative Award for French Enterprise in China. Dr. Xing Jishun, Senior Vice President of Bureau Veritas Group and Regional Chief Executive of Industry and Facilities Division, Greater China was invited to attend the award ceremony alongside representatives of French companies in China that have made remarkable achievements.
Nominations included 17 French companies with global revenues as high as 200 million Euro and have remarkable achievements in China, such as Bureau Veritas, LEGRAND, L'OREAL, and SEB. Dr. Xing Jishun, Senior Vice President of Bureau Veritas Group and Regional Chief Executive of Industry and Facilities Division, Greater China, pointed out that "the nomination for the Best Cooperative Award is praise and honor as well as an incentive for Bureau Veritas to offer more professional services in future and keep developing within the Chinese market".
Bureau Veritas is the leader for test, inspections and certification services around the globe. As early as 1882, Bureau Veritas established business relations in China and now its scope of business has extended to shipping, industry, inspection & active service inspection, architecture, certification, bulk commodity, consumer goods, government services, and international trade. At present, Bureau Veritas is the foreign-funded third party for inspections and certifications, with the most extensive product lines in China and is leading in many markets.
In terms of the classification of vessels, Bureau Veritas is one of the biggest societies in China, ranked in the first place for the supervision and manufacturing of new bulk freighters. In China, it has classified over 3,000 vessels for more than 200 shipbuilders and has provided inspection and certification services for over 2,500 marine equipment plants. In terms of industrial inspection, Bureau Veritas ranks number one. Cooperation has been made with well-known enterprises at home and abroad, for example, AREVA, Alstom, Westinghouse Electric, CNOOC, PetroChina, and SINOPEC.
Also, Bureau Veritas has been engaged in such large scale projects as the natural gas chemical industrial base in Northeast Sichuan, Sanmen and Haiyang nuclear power plants, and Yangtze River Gorges. In terms of inspection and active service inspection, Bureau Veritas possesses a complete set of evaluation schemes on the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance for equipment and facilities in active service. Moreover, Bureau Veritas has successfully performed fire control and safety inspection for fire and electric facilities for large-scale enterprises, such as Carrefour, Auchan, Decathlon, and IKEA. In terms of architecture, Bureau Veritas has provided project management and technology consultation for over 1000 projects in China in the past two decades, including the Shanghai 2010 Expo.
In terms of certification, Bureau Veritas has occupied 60% market shares of AS9100/9110/9120 certification in China, so there is no doubt that Bureau Veritas enjoys the leading edge in the Chinese market. In terms of bulk commodity services, Bureau Veritas is one of the largest iron mine and ore concentrate service providers in China, especially the inspection and analysis on coal and coke. In terms of consumer goods services, Bureau Veritas has provided sufficient laboratories and sales service outlets. Also, it has cultivated an intricate partnership with purchasing companies in China affiliated to well-known consumer goods retailers and manufacturers around the world has been maintained for many years. What's more, in terms of government services and international trade, Bureau Veritas is China's first solely foreign-funded inspection and test company and is in the lead for pre-shipment inspection (PSI).
This award ceremony was jointly organized by OC&C Strategy Consultants, Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris (CCIP), CCIFC, and Think Tank Premier Cercle for the purpose to introduce and commend French companies’ accomplishments in China and share their successful experience. Meanwhile, the organizers would take this opportunity to change the misconception of some companies that reject or neglect the Chinese market and showcase the importance of the Chinese market to the future development. It is of great significance to highlight business expansion in China, which will facilitate the enlargement of customer base as well as medium and long-term global competitiveness.
