It has been reported today that fast food chain Burger King is to stop sourcing burgers from the Larry Goodman owned company ABP, in light of the recent horsemeat scandal.
ABP is the parent company of Silvercrest Foods, the Monaghan-based processing plant which manufactured the Tesco burger which FSAI tests showed to contain 29% horsemeat.
The Irish Independent is reporting that Burger King had bought all of the burgers for its Irish and UK outlets from ABP.
"As a precaution this past weekend we decided to replace all Silvercrest products in the UK & Ireland with products from another approved Burger King supplier," a Burger King statement said.
"This is a voluntary and precautionary measure.
"We are working diligently to identify suppliers that can produce 100% pure Irish and British beef products that meet our high quality standards.
"Unfortunately this may mean that some of our products are temporarily unavailable. We apologise to our guests for any inconvenience.
"However we want to let them know that they can trust us to serve only the highest quality products."
